In April 2012 I ran the London Marathon in aid Isabel Hospice. During the time I was fundraising for this challenge, I was shocked by the number of people that have either benefitted from the wonderful care the hospice provides or know someone who has been affected by a life limiting illness and has used the facility of a hospice elsewhere.
In July 2012 - I took up the role of Corporate Relationship Manager at Isabel Hospice and part of my role is to organise the Extreme Challenges and thus encouraging groups of people to become involved and take up the challenge themselves.
Towards the end of last year, I committed to sending a group to Base Camp Everest in Nepal, the interest was incredible! As a result we have a team of 17 (and growing) trekkers who have all pledged to raise £3,600 in aid of Isabel Hospice. This year I am delighted to say that I too have the opportunity of joining the group! This is a challenge of a lifetime and I am incredibly excited to be taking part.
Let's hope and pray that the entire Isabel Hospice team complete the trek to Base Camp and be able to wave the Isabel Hospice flag at the top - I am almost certain this is somewhere the flag has not been waved before. In the moments of exhaustion, near defeat and all of the emotions that go hand in hand with such a challenge, the driving force for completion will be our patients.
Please support the team, and on behalf of all our patients, volunteers and staff - thank you.
